Crab, cars, cake and music

with 3 comments

Nothing like the three C’s and M to get your blood flowing (whatever that means 8) ). Anyhow, I thought I would update you all on what has been happening in my world of photography in Austin, Texas.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting many portraits, a few head shots, a lot of sports, real estate, food and even some more cars.
Here is a small glimpse at what I have been up to!

Nikon D300+Nikkor 60mm macro with 6 AlienBee 1600s (three on each side) shot through 20'x20' silk above the car.

The 2009 Mazda RX-8. Photographed for the Austin American Statesman. Tech: Nikon D300+Nikkor 60mm macro with 6 AlienBee 1600s (three on each side) shot through 20'x20' silk above the car.

My most recent cover ( 2/6/08 ) is a photograph of an ice cream covered brownie from one of the four restaurants I shot while on assignment for XL Magazine in San Marcos, Texas. The food was shot with a Nikon D300+Nikkor 60mm macro and 2 Nikon SB80dx flash units.

The signature crab stack at August E’s in downtown Fredericksburg made up of seasoned lumps of crabmeat and layered with fresh tomatoes and avocado with wasabi aioli. I shot this one for the Austin American Statesman's XL Magazine. Tech: This was shot with a Nikon D300+Nikkor 60mm macro with 4 Nikon SB80dx flash units and several reflecters.

Beerland is one of the darkest places I have shot at in some time. If I remember right, I had my D300 set at ISO 6400 and I was shooting with a Nikkor 85mm 1.8 @ f2 and getting shutter speeds that were to low to be shooting...

Cory Branan performs at Beerland in Austin, Texas on Thursday. Cory B is one of my all time favorite singers/songwriters. Not only are his shows full of funny stories and great music, the guy is nice as can be. You should check out some of his work @ http://www.myspace.com/corybranan. 1. Great work as always. Welcome to WordPress. Nice job on the portraits of my wife at NaturallyCurly. She asked me who this guy Patrick was coming over to take their picture. I assured her you were top notch. Best/Ralph

  2. That crab stack looks great…except for that nasty ass avacado wedged in there.
